Hello songwriters, I’m Bob Lipetz. I am organizing a singer-songwriter competition for the Columbus Folk Music Society. I’d thought this would interest you.
The Columbus Folk Music Society is now accepting entries for their new singer-songwriter competition, held in conjunction with the 29th Annual Central Ohio Folk Festival. The festival will be held at Bank Run Metro Park, on Saturday and Sunday, June 6th and 7th 2026.
Applicants can fill out an online form and send in a digital file of their entry song and lyrics at the competition website, https://columbusfolkmusicsociety.org/songwriter-competition. Entries will be accepted starting October 1st. Deadline for submission is November 30th.
Six finalists will be selected from the submitted entries by a panel of experienced judges. On Saturday, June 6th the finalists will perform their original entry and one additional original song live in front of the festival audience. The judges will choose a winner who will receive a $300 cash prize and the opportunity to perform a solo set at the festival.
Finalists will be judged on the song’s originality and overall quality, performance, and general stage presence.
